What's a good town for my novel?

Why not just make a fictional town? It'll be more convenient for you in the long run, when you have to start describing it and talking about the people in it and such. If it's really a small town, nobody will mind that you made it up. Come to think of it...in old books, they made it really obvious when things were made up. If Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters could get away with saying things like "He lived in --shire." or "My mother died in 18--" then you probably can get away with making something up, too.
