When does open-mindedness really mean weak-mindedness?

Being open to the opinion of others means that you listen to and consider their point of view. It doesn't mean you have to give up on your own principles. Without any openness, compromise isn't possible. Without compromise, relationships would be in constant turmoil and governments couldn't function. Compromise doesn't mean that you are weak, it means that people with two or more positions were able to work together for the common good. That common good could be to keep a family intact or a government functioning. Only the strongest minds can work together in open discussion to come to a compromise. It is the weak who simply condemn opposing positions and refuse to be open to other ideas.
