What is up with this?

I've actually never seen the musical version of spring awakening...but was blown away when I saw the clip on the Tonys...their voices are amazing!...oddly, my college put on spring awakening last year - the straight play - and i actually really didn't like the choppiness of the actions...i felt it was trying to hard to encomp to many ideas, but I am interested now in seeing the musical to see if its any different
