Why cant my music files play in iTunes?

my friend overseas gave me a CD with music on it, and my whole library of 3000 songs is in iTunes. i double click on the WMA file but iTunes doesnt play it.. the files play perfect in windows media player, but how can i get them to play in iTunes? ALL ANSWERS ARE APPRECIATED! thanks in advance for your answers!
