How to help a friend in desperate need?

I have a ordinary B.A. in psychology and a CSSW diploma, I cannot make a diagnosis but I can make observations. Your friend may be ually or physically abused. Cutting is a warning sign that abuse has taken place. Your friend is a minor. I hate to recommend this, but it looks as if Children's aide has to be called. I am just hypothesizing and their is no proof on my end, but there have been cases were the mother covers up the abuse, or fails to accept reality of the situation because her spouse or boyfriend or family member is involved. It looks as if the final option has to be called upon, the mother is neglecting her daughters emotional and mental welfare. The fall out will be grave, pardon the pun, but the decision is now a matter of life or death. The best thing for you to do is get her professional help. I would also go down to the police station and file a report as to what you have seen and what she has said. They will call children's aide, or call children's aide your self and tell them exactly what is going on. No offence, but if my guess is right and there was abuse, your friend will need serious counselling and possibly medication, the problem is not going to be fixed over night. Just saying if I am hypothetically right, abuse victims think it was their fault for the ault and carry around a tonne of false guilt, they feel shame, worthless and dirty...they lost part of their human dignity. Until a social services officer from children's aide, and the police conduct a investigation its just conjecture, but.........at this pint in time they have to be called in because the warning signs are there. There is another option, if she is suicidal walk into a hospital emergency room, notify the ER nurse at the desk that she is suicidal (if she answers yes that she wants to harm her self she will be institutionalized for 72 hrs, but she will get the help she needs). If the doctors are notified that she is being abused (and your friend has to notify the doctors), by law the police and children's aide have to be called. Be persistent that she gets help. OH...I FORGOT....notify the doctors that her mother is aware of her condition and is not doing anything to help so it goes on report and children's aide has to be called. Good luck and God Bless.
