Na/K pumps pump actively against electrochemical gradients, surely its only against one of these forces?

Electorchemical gradients have 2 components, electrical gradients and chemical gradients which eventually equally oppose each other as i the case of K+ for example. So why do books state that pumps go against both these 2 factors
