Dog food for a Maltese? :]?

I used to feed my Maltese puppy science diet until I realized it's just an overpriced bag of corn. So I switched over to Wellness and Blue which in my opinion is better... But is it really healthier? And it is quite spendy although it's worth it if it's healthy... But is there any cheaper brand dog food that's healthy?
