Unrelated strangers downloading my tree in ancestry.com?

There are some careless people who are mistakenly merging my family tree into theirs. What is causing problems is that some of my inexperienced cousins are downloading this incorrect information into their family tree. I have just made my tree private. Could I just let others see my tree without letting them download the whole thing? i figure the more careful ones will be able to verify for mistakes and copy manually and this would leave the "wild clickers" out.
